Unhinged
by Derrick Borte
It’s rare that a film moves me in such a way that I immediately get up off the couch, pour a glass of wine, sit down at my laptop and write a review. The movie Unhinged, starring fat Russell Crowe, is one of the first movies in a very long time that caused such a reaction.
When I say that this movie is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, I wholeheartedly mean it.
The one good thing about this film, because I at least tried to find something to like, was Russell Crowe. He was absolutely detestable. He is a wonderful villain and the violent terrors he inflicted on his victims were the one thing worth mentioning here. That being said, what a waste of a character and potential here. I would watch an entire series about this aggro-incel psychopath as long as it was any other storyline. Again, wasted potential.
I have seen some awful shit. I have reviewed some awful garbage. I would not even have bothered taking the time to type this out if I honestly wasn’t compelled to save somebody from wasting their precious time on this piece of hot trash (just like Russell Crowe did). There are no likeable characters, the story isn’t compelling (or inventive, or original, or exciting), it’s absurdly unbelievable, and when it should end, it just keeps going.
If you want to watch a movie about a man losing his shit and going crazy, try watching the classic Falling Down or Rampage (the one from 2009, not the giant gorilla one).
Please spend your time watching anything else. Literally anything else.
