Greetings everyone!
It’s been quite a while since my last blog post, my apologies. Life in the real world has been extremely busy and I’ve finally got myself some downtime.
Recently, The Breadwinner had another excellent review posted on the blog Terrorphoria. Thanks to the folks at Terrrorphoria for the review! Head over to their site and check it out via this link.
I’ve gone through my second plot outline of Book 3. I’ve tossed a couple title names around in my head but so far nothing has stood out. I think what’ll end up happening is that I’ll begin to write the book and the name will jump from the pages at me. So for now, Book 3 is still an untitled release. I’ve shared the ending with a dear friend and if her reaction is any indication on how others will feel about the end of the series…then I’ve got good news for all of you. 🙂
In other worlds of mine, Horror Metal Sounds has gone live with “Blood Splattered Pages”! Our new horror book review section will cover the best in horror and post apocalyptic fiction. Many thanks to The Bookie Monster for being our literary consultant and content contributor. Everyone, please head over to HMS and check out our newest section! Blood Splattered Pages. New book reviews will be posted every 1 to 2 weeks, 5 at a time, so you’ll have plenty of time in between your reading frenzy to catch up on all the bloody good horror that you can feast your eyes upon!
Coming up soon I’ve got an author interview with Cathartic Dialogue about The Breadwinner and Haven. They’ll also be releasing a review of Haven soon. I’ve got a couple more reviews scheduled to come back to me hopefully by the end of this month and then in April I should have one with book reviewer Sharon Stevenson, she reviewed The Breadwinner and is excited about the opportunity to check out Haven!
Reviewers. This brings me to my little rant. And you’ll have to excuse me ahead of time. Please understand I am not complaining, this is rather a warning to other writers trying to gain exposure. There are scammers out there. People who pretend to be reviewers on blogs and all they really are, are people trying to get free books to read. For example, a woman by the initials KH, was given a copy of The Breadwinner for free. Once she completed it, she immediately emailed me and told me to send her Haven (before it was even released to the public.) I informed her that I would prefer the review of The Breadwinner go live on her blog before I sent her any more books. I never heard back from her so I contacted her again, asking her when I could expect the review. I received a very complex message back from her regarding her personal life, but she assured me the review would get posted, and once again, she asked me to send her Haven. I have since not heard from her, it’s been over a month and honestly, I don’t think the review will ever get posted. I don’t think she ever had any intentions of posting the review.
This is now the third time something like this has happened to me. I don’t want to sit here and say that it’s something that can be avoided entirely. But I feel like if you make an exchange of goods for services, you should follow through on your advertisements. I don’t pay for my reviews. I feel like that’s a bogus way to go about things. I’m trying to make a name for myself and I’m giving away copies of my book for free to reviewers, any the majority of you are some of the most amazing people I’ve ever interacted with and if it weren’t for me trolling the internet almost daily, I’d have never encountered the great professionals that you are. But unfortunately, there are the bad apples, and I wish they would just be erased from the internet. But I’m still not the type of person that would ever put someone’s name out there and slander them. So, to KH, you are an ass hat. Stay away from my books! And to all other writers out there, keep on pushing! Don’t become discouraged by the bad apple reviewers who send you empty promises in exchange for your intellectual property!
Phew. Okay. Thanks for letting me rant 🙂
I have a very, very exciting interview with one of my favorite authors, David Moody! I’ve just emailed him back today and hope to hear back from him very soon with his responses to my questions. Once that project is complete, you’ll be able to enjoy the interview yourselves on HMS!
My newest book review for TBM should be posted soon on Jackie Druga’s Flu 2: Healing. Be on the lookout for that! And new horror movie reviews will be live this week on HMS!
Always remember, The Breadwinner has been permanently reduced to 99 cents, so spread the word, spread the apocalypse! Then once you’re done devouring The Breadwinner, take a trip to Haven in Book 2 and continue the post apocalyptic adventure!
Until next time,
Stevie
